Material Recovery

Recover value before it becomes disposal cost.

URI helps construction teams identify eligible recoverable materials, route them through checked partners and connect the commercial result back to the site record. The aim is simple: keep valuable material out of mixed waste where the site conditions and ownership allow it.

Where value leaks

Mixed waste can hide two costs at once.

The site can pay to dispose of material that may also have recoverable value. URI reviews both sides of the equation: the avoided mixed-waste cost and the realistic net value of a separate recovery route.

01 · AVOID

Disposal cost

Where material can be kept out of mixed waste, the avoided disposal cost becomes part of the commercial case.

02 · RECOVER

Material value

Eligible copper, cable, aluminium and PVC/uPVC can be assessed against a practical buyer and collection route.

03 · PROVE

Net result

Collection cost, buyer value and reviewed load evidence are kept visible so the saving is not overstated.

Commercial rule

Recovery only counts when the numbers and ownership work.

URI does not assume every material belongs to the main contractor or that every load is economically viable. Scrap ownership, access, contamination, quantity, transport and buyer requirements are checked before a route is treated as a real opportunity.

Saving = avoided mixed-waste cost + net material value − separate collection cost.

Before a collection

  • Confirm who owns the material.
  • Check quantity, grade and contamination.
  • Confirm access and packaging.
  • Match a suitable carrier / receiving route.
  • Confirm the likely commercial outcome.

After a collection

  • Capture WTN and weighbridge evidence.
  • Record final weight and destination.
  • Record buyer value and collection cost.
  • Named reviewer checks the record.
  • Approved result flows into the monthly statement.
Best first step

Start with the waste bill, not a promise.
